Download Instagram Stories online

The SnapInsta lets you save photos and videos from an Instagram Story using its link. Open the Story you want to keep, copy the link and paste it into the downloader above. When the results appear, select the photo or video to download.

Stories can expire or be removed, so download the item while it is still available. For Stories a creator has kept in the Highlights section of their profile, use the Highlights Downloader with the relevant Highlight link.

How to download an Instagram Story

Use a link to the Story itself. If you have a profile link, open the intended Story first and copy its own address.
1

Open the Story and copy its link

On Instagram, open the photo or video in the Story and look for Copy link in its sharing options. In a desktop browser, copy the address while that Story is open.
2

Paste the Story link

Open The SnapInsta, paste the link into the box and select Download. Keep the page open while the Story files are loaded.
3

Save the photo or video

Check the previews and select the item you want. Use its download button, then find the saved file in your browser's downloads list.

Save Story photos and videos

  • Photo and video Stories

A Story may contain a still photo or a video clip. Choose the corresponding result to save the photo as an image or the clip as a video.

  • Download before the Story disappears

Save an accessible Story while it is online. The downloaded file stays on your device even if the original Story later becomes unavailable.

  • Stories kept as Highlights

If a creator has added the Story to a Highlight, open that Highlight and use its link on the Highlights Downloader.

How to get the right Story link

Open the specific Story item before copying the link. If you cannot find Copy link in the Instagram app, try opening the Story in a browser where you can view it and copy its address. A link to the account's profile may not identify the photo or video you want.

When several Story items appear in the results, use their previews to choose which ones to download. One result does not necessarily represent every Story the account has posted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download a Story after it expires?

This tool needs the Story to remain available. If it has expired, check whether the creator kept it as a Highlight. You can then try that Highlight link; the tool cannot recover a deleted Story from an old link.

Do I enter a username or a Story link?

Enter the Story link on this page. Open the Story first, then copy its link from the sharing options or browser address bar. The profile picture tool is the separate tool that accepts a username.

Can I save a Story on iPhone or Android?

Yes. Open The SnapInsta in your phone's browser and follow the steps above. After downloading, check Files on iPhone or Downloads on Android. You can then use your device's options to save a compatible image or video to your photo library.

Will a downloaded Story include music?

Music depends on the video file returned for that Story. If your download is silent, try another available video option. Stickers, music and other features shown in the Instagram app may not all be present in the downloadable file.

Why can I view the Story on Instagram but not download it?

The Story may require access from your signed-in account, or it may have expired since you opened it. Reopen the Story, copy a fresh link and retry. Temporary service problems can also interrupt downloads.

Can I download a Story from a private account?

The public Story tool cannot access a private account for you. The Private Downloader has a separate process for supported content you already have permission to view. Read its instructions before submitting source HTML.

Does one link download every Story from the account?

Download the items shown for the link you submitted. The tool does not guarantee a complete copy of an account's Story history. Open another Story and use its own link if the item you need is missing.
