Private Instagram Downloader

Download supported photos and videos from private posts you can already view. Follow the link and page-source steps below.

2. Open the generated link and copy its contents

The source HTML you submit is sent to our server and extraction provider. Use this tool only for a post you have permission to access.

Download a private Instagram post you can access

Private Instagram posts need a different download process from public posts. The SnapInsta uses the post's link and the page source from your own browser session to find its media. You must already be able to open the post on Instagram, for example through an account whose follow request has been accepted.

The tool has three fields: the post link, a generated link to open, and the source HTML to paste back. You do not enter an Instagram password on this website. The submitted HTML is processed by our server and extraction provider, so read the data notice beside the form before continuing.

How to use the Private Instagram Downloader

A desktop browser is usually easier for copying page source. Keep Instagram open in the browser where you can view the post.
1

Paste the private post link

Open the post in your own Instagram session and copy its link. Paste it into the first field on The SnapInsta. Wait for the second field to show the generated link.
2

Open the generated link and copy its contents

Copy the link in the second field and open it in the browser where you can view the post. The page can display JSON data or HTML source. Copy its complete contents, then return to this form.
3

Paste the HTML and download

Paste the copied source into the third field and select Download. The source is sent for processing. When the media appears, choose the photo or video you want to save.

What you need for a private download

  • Access to the post

The Instagram account in your browser must already be able to view the post. The downloader does not approve follow requests or open restricted accounts.

  • The matching post source

Use the source for the same post whose link you entered. An empty source, a different page or a login screen will not provide the media the tool needs.

  • A source file within the limit

The form accepts source HTML up to 5 MB. If the source is too large, check that you copied the individual post page rather than unrelated content.

Before submitting page source

Page source can include account-related information as well as links to media. Submit only the source required for the post and do not include passwords, copied browser cookies or unrelated pages. Processing is not confined to your device: the HTML is sent to the website's server and the extraction provider.

See the Privacy page for the service's data handling information. If you do not want to transmit the page source, do not submit this form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download a private post without following the account?

This tool requires access you already have through Instagram. If the account has not allowed you to view the post, the downloader cannot provide that access. Open the post in your own session before starting.

Do I need to enter my Instagram password?

No. Sign in to Instagram through Instagram itself if needed. The SnapInsta form asks for a post link and page source, not your password. Do not paste credentials or copied cookies into any field.

Why does the generated link show a login page?

Open it in the same browser and Instagram session where the private post is visible. If you still cannot see the post, confirm that your account has access. Copying the source of the login page will not retrieve the post's media.

Why do I get no photos or videos after pasting the source?

Check that the source belongs to the same post as the first link and that the post was visible when you copied it. A login screen, expired session or incomplete source can produce no results. Try copying fresh source from the post.

Does the HTML stay on my phone or computer?

No. The form sends it to our application server and extraction provider to find downloadable media. Review the content before submitting and consult the Privacy page for data handling details.

Can I use the private downloader on a phone?

The form can be opened on a phone, but getting the full page source can be harder in a mobile browser. If you cannot copy the required source, use a desktop browser where you can access the same Instagram post.

Can I download several private posts with one source?

Use the link and matching source for one supported post at a time. If that post contains several items, download the ones returned in its results. The tool does not export every post from a private account.
